My English learning journey began 22 years ago with a practical English textbook. Driven by curiosity about the world through language, I studied International Relations and Chinese language and culture during my bachelor's program, and I began my career as a technical translation project manager at a language solution agency in 2013.
I later spent three years researching modern Chinese art and culture during my master's program to deepen my linguistic and cultural expertise. Extensive reading, writing, and research in both English and Simplified Chinese have made me highly detail-oriented, allowing me to analyze each word with precision and interpret meaning actually within context. After professional experience in translation, food product, and technology transfer industries, I transitioned to working as a full-time freelance translator in 2025.

📘Key Features of my workflow:
1. Clear and proactive communication:My goal is to be a translator trusted by PMs. I deliver high-quality work on time and keep project managers updated on progress via email, MS Teams, or other preferred channels.
2. Strong project understanding through in-depth research: Through my experience as a PM at a Korean language agency and as an editor at a technology transfer company, I learned that translators who thoroughly research the background of the source text and product can better understand the text's purpose and target audience, enabling them to choose appropriate terminology and writing style. I avoid word-for-word translation and instead prioritize full comprehension of the source text through careful pre-research.
3. Natural target-language translation: I follow the Korean Language Norms issued by the National Institute of Korean Language. I also adhere to The Chicago Manual of Style for English and the General Rules for Punctuation for Simplified Chinese. When required, I consult industry-standard style guides such as the Microsoft Localization Style Guide.
4. Coding and SEO knowledge: I can accurately translate text within code-based documents. By applying correct terminology according to tag semantics and structuring markup so search engines can properly interpret content, I help improve SEO performance.
5. QA process: I use QA checkers in Trados Studio and MS Word. I also apply the Pusan National University Korean Spellchecker integrated into HWP 2024.
