New great feature: Go to pressed character 스레드 게시자: Hans Lenting

Here is a smarter solution that only needs one keyboard shortcut to tag straight double quotes outside:
The solution to tag straight double quotes inside ("[tag]...[tag]") can be derived from the above.

Just one more example: inserting tags inside brackets.

Finally a solution to quickly wrap the registered trademark symbol, ®, with tags:
So happy with this!!! | |

The new feature allows the creation of smart macros, like the SmartTagger.
With this checkbox unticked:
The SmartTagger can insert tags at the superfluous spaces that exist when a fuzzy segment match is inserted in the Target Segment Editor. To achieve this, these spaces are first replaced with a double dagger. Then the number of double daggers is counted and the new feature is repeated the required number of times. This process looks rather nice. And what's more important: it can save you a lot of time and clicks.
Demo:
BTW: You can insert double daggers in your target terms. If the source segment contains a tag, the daggers will be replaced with tags. If the source doesn't contain any tag, the dagger will be removed from the target segment. How nice is that!!!

Surrounding numbers with tags, e.g. subscripts in chemical formulas:
BTW: Of course you can tie this tagging action (like any other tagging action) to the Go to next untranslated segment keyboard shortcut, so that you don't need to press the keyboard shortcut for tagging.

Plus, I can't complain about any major usability problems with Trados or memoQ. While the former used to annoy me with its epic crashes, it has been making amends lately, so I no longer have to work in mQ on Trados-based orders (knocking on wood)

Here is the latest macro that keeps me happy. I don't like sequences like bracket, tag, number, tag, bracket. The tags are hardly ever placed correctly in the target segment and all this formatting is distracting and unnecessary:
So I defined two non-translatables to hide the brackets. After that, CafeTran Espresso will merge them with the formatting tags:
With the macro, I can press Option+Command+0 to have all single numbers tagged, just like in the source segment:

I'm not a fan of all features either. I don't need features that are designed for project managers, like: LQA reports available through API, Display progress info in translation document by role, Edit distance statistics, dedicated translation management system, distribution of translation assets, Tracking projects and reporting, Track and report on key metrics, etc.
However, I do need features that make my work as a freelance translator more enjoyable: distraction-free screens, large fonts, drag and drop, etc.
I don't want to just get the job done: I want to translate in the most pleasant way possible, sitting relaxed in my chair, in front of two big screens, enjoying my work.
An example of my approach is my latest macro: I can concentrate on the wording. When I'm satisfied, I move on to the next segment and all the tags (and other mechanical aspects of the target segment) are applied automatically. Yes, it makes me translate faster. But that's not my main goal. It's the joy of translating that I want to keep.
BTW: I hate monkey typing!
